Travel Insurance, yup, you've got every other kind, right?

Travel insurance never crossed my mind when we were employed and traveling mostly domestically. With our first adventure last fall, elderly parents, issues with kids and our own health were all good reasons to purchase travel insurance.
I used to think it was extra medical or evacuation insurance in case of an emergency, but I've since learned coordinating a trip that costs an arm and a leg in airline, hotel and outfitter fees, or cruise lines, resorts and trains is not something I want to leave on the table should one of us be injured PRIOR to traveling, or while traveling receive a phone call about an emergency back home requiring an immediate return.
Unlike health insurance, which is insanely expensive for what you get, travel insurance is relatively cheap. Just read the limitations and rules and be sure you've purchased coverage for your situation! Then plan away without worrying "what if...". File this tidbit in the category, what we've learned along the way.
